Before the flood – Moths!

I didn’t put the moth trap out last night due to heavy rain, floods and high winds! However, the previous night was quite productive. Well, not productive in numbers, but definitely a case of quality rather than quantity! It was great to catch only my second Peach Blossom for my garden. These moths are simply gorgeous.

I also trapped only my second {Cryptic} Burnished Brass (the brackets are due to my uncertainty of this species taxonomic status in the UK). These stunners need no introduction.

It seemed like the theme was seconds; as I also trapped my second Map-winged Swift form gallicus!

However the undoubted highlight was trapping my first of the exquisitely patterned ‘normal form’ of Map-winged Swift!

A tattoo is a true poetic creation, and is always more than meets the eye. As a tattoo is grounded on living skin, so its essence emotes a poignancy unique to the mortal human condition. ― V. Vale, Modern Primitives
