The Inked Naturalist

Some moth action!

The wet windy weather of late has ment very little moth activity! However a break in the inclement conditions allowed me to run the trap again the other night. Not a massive haul, but some nice species caught. The trap contained my first Green-brindled Crescents (Allophyes oxyacanthae), Red-line Quaker (Agrochola lota) and Yellow-line Quaker (Agrochola macilenta) of the year.

Feathered Thorn (Colotois pennaria) and Angle Shades (Phlogophora meticulosa) are always superb moths to see!

It was nice to see my first Chestnut (Conistra vaccinii) of the autumn as well!

Frosted Orange (Gortyna flavago) was a great moth to find and a new one for my garden records!

Micro moths are still giving me a headache; but I am fairly certain this one is the tortrix Acleris rhombana!

A nice selection of moths; hopefully a few more mild nights to follow!
