The Inked Naturalist

Terry Nutkins – Legend

From watching Animal Magic and The Really Wild Show when I was a child; Terry Nutkins was a true inspiration to me. He had a real passion for wildlife; that was so evident when you watched him on television. Terry was a conservationist and naturalist that really sparked my interest in wildlife. I remember reading about how he lost a finger to an Otter when he worked with Gavin Maxwell; something I always had on my mind when I was working with otters at Paradise Park many years ago!

Terry Nutkins lost his battle with leukaemia and died at the age of 66. This is a very sad day; and a great loss to anyone interested in wildlife. Today’s natural history presenters could learn a lot from Terry both on screen and off screen!

Here is a youtube clips showing Terry at his best:

A tattoo is a true poetic creation, and is always more than meets the eye. As a tattoo is grounded on living skin, so its essence emotes a poignancy unique to the mortal human condition. ― V. Vale, Modern Primitives
